Analysis, made material

Bark & Beam Chicago is a studio practice producing wall works and furniture shaped by judgment, structure, and craft.

The work favors clarity over ornament, structure over spectacle, and material honesty over finish. Operating between art and engineering, form is derived through disciplined analysis and shaped to be lived with over time.

The Works.

  • Data-driven wood relief wall art constructed from solid hardwood in a calibrated grid pattern.

    Wall Works

Each wall work is constructed as an ordered matrix derived from calibrated geographic cells. What appears pixelated is measured: every unit corresponds to a defined land area at fixed spatial intervals and is expressed through footprint, elevation, and wood species. The world is not illustrated, but reconstructed as structure and meant to be experienced over time.

  • Structural solid hardwood furniture piece designed with disciplined joinery and clean architectural form.

    Furniture

Each work is shaped through judgment and craft, built to withstand use, time, and the shifting demands of daily life. Forms draw from structural principles found in nature, where strength emerges through clarity and economy. This steadiness allows material to age with integrity rather than wear through excess.
